The nose displays plenty of high toned column still spirit with a touch of molasses and toasty oak. I’m not getting much in the way of weighty pot still character but it has some pleasant dried fruit, spice and vanilla.

The palate is light and supple with hints of Demerara sugar and light column still spirit notes with a subtle pot still weight and molasses. Very heavy toasty vanilla middle as the oak kicks in and...

Scottish gin vapour infused with juniper, angelica, citrus peel, sea-buckthorn berries, coriander seed and lemon balm.

Tasted: Jan 2017

Intensely sweet and bitter juniper with fresh citric notes. Very refreshing with hints of salty berries, very soft coriander spice and a nutmeg-like note.

The palate is a little fuller and shows more spirit character, although it is still pleasantly fresh and juniper led. Hints of sweet citrus and bitter spice on the middle with a touch of salty berry. Long salty finish with warming spice and citrus.

#6— Kavalan Solist Moscatel Cask, 55.6% ABV, $599

Rich and intense nose, with paradise cake, honey, dried apple, plum, and crème d’abricot. The mouthfeel is dry, nutty, and fruity, with a silky consistency. #7— Masterson’s 10 year old Rye (batch PSF3), 45% ABV, $89

For some reason I never seem to have reviewed the Highland Park 12 Year Old . First introduced in 1979 and matured in a combination of refill and first-fill sherry casks.

Highland Park 12 yo (40%, OB 2016)

Nose: rather typical HP. Honeyed, a lot of orange cubes, cinnamon. Just a hint of heathery smoke and charcoal. Golden raisins. Fairly rounded, with light floral hints. A hint of sea air. Mouth: quite all-round, with a bit of different profiles. Some candied fruits, oranges, a little dried apricot. Some grassy notes, hay, mingling nicely with the soft smoky touches....

#8—Ohishi Single Sherry (cask 1257), 43.3% ABV, $75

This dark dram is distilled from malted and unmalted rice along the Kuma river in Hitoyoshi. The nose is redolent of stewed prunes, raisins, plum wine, and walnut, with a palate of treacle, molasses, burnt sugar, licorice, prune, dark fruits, mocha, praline, and nuttier elements. Skillfully, it never veers into bitterness....

Yesterday I wrote I was happy due to the Glenlivet single cask that was released exclusively to the Israeli market but earlier this month there was another sign that we’re getting noticed in the whisky industry: The annual Glenmorangie Private Edition launch events around the globe included Israel as well with a proper launch event by the local Glenmorangie importer (Y.D 1986) and with actual bottles available to purchase on the same day for the same price as most European countries. Another first time happenstance in our whisky history and a good sign to Israeli whisky aficionados.
